What’s next with populism? The outlook for the populist right after the US elections

About

Right-wing populist parties seem to have come under pressure. Failing to properly address the health crisis, out-going US president Donald Trump lost his re-election. In Europe, populist movements in Poland, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Hungary – unable to live up to their economic promises – are facing tailwinds. Or are they? Do we see a return of the savant politician? Or are new, more radical movements waiting around the corner? Listen to our discussion with Prof Daphne Halikiopoulou and Prof Eric Kaufmann who provide an outlook for populism and address the economic and cultural drivers of these movements and the possible options for mainstream parties to address them.
